Looking for a homepage

I have been using My Yahoo (and just Yahoo before that) for years as my internet search and homepage. I don't know if it's any better or worse than any other but it was familiar and I never had much issue one way or the other.

As of late I click on one of the "news" headlines and subject myself to it's drivel. I know, I know, I don't have to read their headlines or news but it's kind of like an car accident, you just have to look. I haven't found one article on gun control, Zimmerman, etc. that is even close to being balanced. I know we can argue that about most of the MSM but there are a few faint glimmers of hope out there, at least that are tolerable. Their other articles aren't much better.

Well, I've finally got a belly full and I'm looking for another search engine/homepage/whatever they are called. I'm tired of supporting and endorsing Yahoo by using My Yahoo.

Any suggestions on who to use? I don't figure Google or Bing are any better but I'm not familar with anyone else.

The NSA captures all of them so does it matter?

I use blank homepage, Google search engine and Drudge for news mostly.

I try to avoid yahoos which has evolved to an online real time People Magazine, not what I want.

It doesn't track your searches like Google, etc., and that's just fine with me.

:iagree: Seriously, "no home page" is the best option. It speeds up your web browser a fair bit to not have to load something every time you open a new tab/window.

Switched to DDG when the story broke about the big tech firms handing over data to NSA. Saw an interview with the CEO last week where he said that even if he was subpoenaed, they have nothing to give the NSA since they don't keep any records of searches.

Win.

Be sure to turn off safe search..... it limits too many things in addition to the stuff you want to have omitted. Needs improvement.

I've been meaning to switch to them for my default search engine... Thanks for the reminder :tiphat:

They can't capture and retain THAT much data.. trust me.. :-)
They've got to select the interesting stuff.
