The son-n-law is looking at one. Those in the know give me the good, Bad and the ugly on the gun and Taurus Customer service.

I bought on back in 2009 and wrote a little review. I still have it and it has continued to perform well.

Lots of choices out there these days for a slim, carry 9. There are better choices for just a little more cash, IMO. LC9, CM9, XDS9, Shield 9, and P290 to name a few. Admittedly, I am not a fan of Taurus autos having seen 3 of them fail catastrophically. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to sing their praises, but I cannot.

I won't sing....but I have had one for several years and it has been 100%.

I know a lot of people think pretty lowly of Taurus....but mine has been good.

I used to have one, it was a good gun just not something I carried or shot so I let a friend (Constable at the time) deal me out of it. He wanted a reliable BUG and off duty gun and it worked well for him.

I have the 709 and 740. Have been reliable pistols and in CCW rotation. No buyers remorse.

Put a few mags through a buddy's. The trigger was a little stiff and gritty, and I really disliked the oversized trigger guard. Other than that, it wasn't a bad pistol.

My son has the Taurus 709c.
He really likes it.
Big enough for his hands.
100% on shooting and reliability.
No complaints.

I've had mine for over three years now. No issues ever at the range and it shoots great. No problems concealing it even with just a t-shirt.

Thanks for the above replys. M
Next question. Does anyone have any feedback with Taurus customer service? I have not heard any thing in the last couple of years since they were suppost to open a service center in the US. Before then I beard there service was slow and you had to pay for shipping there. I have only owned 1 Taurus in my life and that was my first gun I bought in 1989. A 38 snub revolver. I still have that one.

My biggest reservation on Taurus is that my local gunsmiths won't work on them...if anyone other than Taurus works on them, the warranty is voided. My other guns, the warranty is just voided on that component that I had worked on. An example being the sight swap on my XDS...Springfield will now cover everything but the sights under warranty.

I have the PT740 and love it. It conceals very well, and has given me no issues. I bought it used and have 300+ rounds through it without an issue. My only concern is the sights are a little odd, and to line up on target the front sight is partially covered by the rear, but I'm used to it now. If you do buy it, I strongly suggest the Pearce grip extension, it helps quite a bit on my .40 as it's got a pretty good kick.

Love the naysayer's above.....

My PT 709 has been flawless the last 5 or so years' I've owned it. It's my EDC.

My wife has one as well.... viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30400" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Customer service is top notch. Pick up from your door, return to your door.

Don't let anyone fool you into "a little more money gets you a better gun". Some folks just don't feel good about a firearm unless they pay $1,425,999.99 for a pistol that was recently featured on the cover of "Pistols of the Rich and Famous".

My .02 cents.

Chuck

Guess you're referring to me Chucky. Two broken trigger bars and a broken firing pin are fact, not fiction. First hand knowledge of friend and family members, not internet hearsay. Great customer service won't help you when your life is on the line. Both my carry guns are in the $400-500 price range with thousands of flawless rounds thru them. My .02 cents.

Sorry to hear of your problems. The Tauri (plural for Taurus, right? ;-) ) I have.....have performed without a glitch. It's my EDC because it's small and lightweight. And, if I drop it or bang it up, it won't be as heartbroken as I would if I dropped some of my other pistols.
