Thinking about becoming and instructor

OK I am thinking about becoming and CCL instructor. I do not have CCL yet I thought I would just do it all at once. I have looked up some of the information about the class. The last time I was checking I could not find out if you have to take (and pass) a NRA pistol instructor class to be a CCL instructor. Also how often do they offer instructor classes. Thanks

The NRA instructor class is one of the certifications DPS will accept. NRA classes are offered at various times. Go to http://www.nrainstructors.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and search for a class.

If you're going to be an instructor, at least you could get the terminology correct. It's a CHL here, not CCL. :tiphat:

sjfcontrol: you are correct  I was in a hurry when I found this site. Didn't that just start this year? Any idea why you now have to take another pistol in instructor class to teach the CHL course. Thanks

It's been the rule all the time, just not strictly enforced until now, apparently.

It really wasn't that it wasn't enforced, I believe it was just misinterpreted. That is why they had a shortened course offered for those that already had an NRA or TCLEOSE pistol instructor cert and the longer course for those that weren't already instructors.

Actually, calling it a CHL has always been correct in Texas.
