For the Vietnam vets, this link is to a large 1960s era collection of Vietnam photos. Brought back memories, some good and some bad. I was sent to me via e-mail.

I was a UH-1 "Huey" slick driver 1966-1967 and airmobile advisor to the VNAF at Pleiku in 1972-1973.

Thanks Dave. Some familiar, most not. With the 101st Abn, all cities, villages, hamlets, etc. were off limits, so we had little to no contact with the civilian world there. I just remember northern I-Corps full of bomb craters, hills and mountains, looking like the surface of the moon. 101st Abn, '69-'70 snake driver.

Memories.

Com Squadron - Tan Son Nhut AB 1971-72 for me. We monitored all of the special circuits and nav aids in South Vietnam and reported outages to the techs.

First Cavalry 1967-1968 PhuBai. I was a 43E2P Parachute Rigger (Red Hat) We rigged loads for sling delivery, taught the Grunts and Redlegs how to rig their equipment and supplied sling loading equipment to the Division. We kept a stock of T10 parachutes for the LRRP and maintained the ejection system for the OV1 Mohawk. We stayed busy and didn't have time to see the sights. In our spare time we were involved with recovery of shot down aircraft.

Thanks for posting the link, Dave. You're right: a lot of memories... some good... some not so good... but the ones of Da Lat were Fantastic! (FTF stories only - it WAS an R&R town, after all!).

I guess I was luckier than most in that after getting a job change from Combat Security Policeman at Phan Rang AB, I was able to get on and off bases regularly, and got to visit with all kinds of units, of all branches of service (and of all the allied nationalities) as I worked as a photojournalist (AFSC=791x0) for the 7th Air Force Combat News division of 7AF(OI) out of Tan Son Nhut AB in 70-71.

I just want to salute the Vietnam vets on here. :patriot:

My dad was a gunship pilot, first tour in Huey's in 65 - 66, second in Cobras in 69 - 70. I don't know where he was or what company he was with, but he was a career Army Aviator and he was proud of his service. I am still proud of him, he passed away in 2008, he blamed agent orange for his illness.

God bless all of you. :patriot:
