Fyi there is an unspecified threat to Austin over the next 3 days.

Austin police is monitoring a “low credibility” threat to the downtown area slated for Thursday, Friday and Satruday.

Police did not say who made the threat or what the threat was, but said they’ve relayed the information to regional and federal authorities as is typical with threats of this nature.

“APD will continue to monitor the situation and have in place an appropriate response plan if necessary,” the department said in a statement.

I'm surprised Barry hasn't ordered the town shuttered.

Here is the email the Downtown Austin Alliance (DAA) sent out to inform several offices and buildings that are in the area.
The DAA wants to share a recent report in the local Austin news that the Austin Police Department has acknowledged they were briefed last week on possible threats in downtown Austin on or about August 8 or 9, or August 29. According to APD, officials have identified this as a low credibility threat, and APD put out the following statement:

"We vetted all the information with our regional and federal partners as we do with all threats. APD will continue to monitor the situation and have in place an appropriate response plan if necessary."

As always, the Downtown Austin Alliance would like to remind all property owners, managers, key building personnel, and safety/security staffs to remain vigilant at all times and to immediately report any suspicious persons, packages or activity, unusual behaviors or circumstances by calling 911.

If you see something – SAY SOMETHING!
low credibility threat, interesting. Wonder if it was just someone shooting their mouth off.

Is this related to the overall terrorist threat against the United States and its interests overseas, which caused the US to shut down its consulates in a number of Muslim countries?

If the answer is yes, than this is my comment:

Al Quaeda seems to do things out of the blue and on the 11th. We have never had any "terrorist conference call" leads before, or if we did we didn't pay attention.

Is this a smoke screen to make us spend a lot of money for nothing? They know we are listening. Then after nothing happens on 8/11, on 9/11, we let our guard down again and they surprise us.

My two cents.

^^^^ These recent Chinese fire drills are simply justification for the NSA (with the blessing of POTUS and Congress - Both parties) destroying the 4th Amendment.

I am curious to see what if anything is increased security wise. That will speak volumes about whether or not they perceive an actual threat.
