IRS agent: Tax agency is still targeting Tea Party groups
In a remarkable admission that is likely to rock the Internal Revenue Service again, testimony released Thursday by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp reveals that an agent involved in reviewing tax exempt applications from conservative groups told a committee investigator that the agency is still targeting Tea Party groups, three months after the IRS scandal erupted.
In closed door testimony before the House Ways & Means Committee, the unidentified IRS agent said requests for special tax status from Tea Party groups is being forced into a special "secondary screening" because the agency has yet to come up with new guidance on how to judge the tax status of the groups.
When Richard Nixon even
presumed to sic the IRS on his "enemies list," it helped lead to his downfall as president. But the Chicago mafia is still in power in DC, and not one of them is going to jail for this stuff. Instead, they demanded the resignation of a guy at the IRS who was stepping down in 2 weeks anyway. I'm going to go out on the proverbial limb here and predict that if the congressional investigation knocks too loudly on the White House door, mafia Don Obama will claim executive privilege, while ordering Holder's DOJ and the IRS to thoroughly investigate every republican serving on the investigating committee, up to and including illegal wiretaps......a trick learned from Tricky Dicky at the Watergate Hotel.
I am praying for him to stop exercising, and to double his cigarette consumption and go on a steady diet of triple bacon cheeseburgers......at an accelerated rate....

It is pretty amazing how complacent most Americans have become. And I think politicians are figuring out that people are inclined to make a lot of noise, but not follow up with their votes. This allows them to act like they are doing something but never follow through. And in some cases, not even pretend that they are going to do something.
Blah.

I would say "desensitized".
I feel like a lamb being led to the slaughter these days... It's as if nobody (except you folks) realizes the ramifications of what's going on.

The IRS was never rocked in the first place. Someone retired early, someone else pled the 5th and is still on paid vacation and some hearings happened.....nothing to see here...move along....
These are not the scandals you are looking for...

I agree, desensitized is a better way to describe the apathy. Maybe a little laziness as well. It is much easier to yell and shout while sitting at a computer screen than it is to actually get up and doing something about it.
I know I am preaching to the choir on this forum, but it really does get kind of frustrating and tiring to read about all these things and see the lack of action to correct the problems.
I really feel like taking a break from reading any news, from the Politics forum here, etc... And that is a sad state to be in.

But not to worry, the FBI is on the case.

Why haven't we seen special prosecutors on any of these scandals? Isn't their use intended for cases where DOJ has a conflict of interest such as investigating itself or possible involvement of the president?

The law authorizing so-called special prosecutors, more properly termed Independent Counsels, expired some years ago. I believe there is some DOJ regulation that permits something similar, but of course, the DOJ is in the hands of You-Know-Who, so is not likely to be dusted off for use any time soon.
"What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;"
Or perhaps, similarly, like what Mrs. Truman took 35 years to convince Harry to call manure.

Do what? All my elected representatives are the right side of this one, and AFIAK all my friends either already see things correctly (on this issue, anyway) or are politically speaking a lost cause.

Here you go.
Okay, remove the "s" in the "https", and the "www."
Got it.
