Don't know if this subject has been addressed before, but be sure that your name as shown on your TX CHL is exactly the same as on your TX Driver License. I bought a handgund not long ago and gave the dealer my CHL, my DL, and filled out the 4473. I waited awhile, excpecting a quick transaction, but then I heard the clerk reading off myi info in a back room to the BATFE. When I asked him why he did that, he said, "Well, you have a "Jr." at the end of the your name on your DL, but not on your CHL, so since they're not the same I had to check with BATFE.
I am in the process of adding "Jr." to my CHL so I won't have to put up with this again.
Funny thing is, I bought a number of weapons with these documents and no one thought to check with BATFE.....oh, well

The CHL should match your DL. Good thing you are getting it fixed. However, the gun dealer should not have been running an NICS check on you since a TX CHL allows you to bypass the background check. Some dealers still do it, but it is not required.

In addition to the above, the clerk only had to look at the CHL where right below the CHL number is the number of your drivers license. Those two documents are linked together.

Take a look at my post. Same thing with me. I had middle name and different signature on my txdl, I also bought a house and moved.
Didn't catch it until I went to buy my first handgun using my chl, he said since my names were different I couldn't use my chl. So I changed them all, signature to match txdl, added my middle name and changed address. 25 bucks and roughly 2 months later it was all straightened out. Couple hiccups with them cashing my check then saying I didn't pay. And without even asking they used my txdl picture on my new chl. ( thanks goodness my passport photo was horrible.)
