The Wait is Over!

I was astonished to go out to the mailbox today to find my CHL. I wasn't expecting it this quickly.
I originally applied in January 2012 from California in anticipation of selling our home and moving. In the event, we finally got the place sold and moved in June, 2013. I did not have a chance to get to Texas to take the test until late May, and finally got the fingerprints and BI done on August 7, and here it is!
There was some confusion because the original application had my CA address and D/L info. The application is supposed to lapse after one year but somehow mine was still in the sytem, screwing things up. A telephone call with questions about why I could file an application online brought the problem out in the open and got it straightened it out. I never did get to log in to check progress, but now I don't have to. No complaining.... I saved the $72 I thought was history!
Not having it until now was no impediment as I have FL and UT permits anyway.
I came away very much impressed with the folks I spoke with at DPS, and how relatively easy it is to interact with them when need be.
On the one hand, it took 20 months. On the other, it took about ten days once everything was in and straightened out.
