What it is, is an invalid sign. Not legally binding.

A sign that does not apply to me. It also appears to be on/in a place where I'd not likely be. YMMV, eh?

Yea, you likely wouldn't be there unless you are a car dealer. This sign is at a dealers only auction.

About signs. I have read regs and I have read posts and what I read is arbitrary. I read that a sign means nothing if not just so so. I also read that if a place of business tells you that no cc is allowed, then you are in violation if you don't comply with what he says. So I think with any sign posted you would be in trouble if you just ignore it because you have been told. When supreme court says its ok to burn a flag because of freedom of speech, then I'm sure if you had to go to court defending yourself for chl you would lose because you've been told.

Not according to the law. Do you have your CHL yet or have you even read PC30.06?

The law is very specific on this subject. If you are orally told that you cannot carry, it is binding no matter what is said. If you are given written notice, the law gives specific wording that must be included. If the written notice is posted as a sign (not just a paper given to you), the law has more specifics for it, such as the size of the letters.

I strongly suggest that you read the law yourself, paying careful attention to what is says and especially what it does not say. If you then have specific questions about it, feel free to ask them here.

For your reading pleasure: (Since a sign can not speak, it falls under written communication).

(b) For purposes of this section, a person receives notice
if the owner of the property or someone with apparent authority to
act for the owner provides notice to the person by oral or written
communication.
(3) "Written communication" means:
(A) a card or other document on which is written
language identical to the following: "Pursuant to Section 30.06,
Penal Code (trespass by holder of license to carry a concealed
handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411,
Government Code (concealed handgun law), may not enter this
property with a concealed handgun"; or
(B) a sign posted on the property that:
(i) includes the language described by
Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish;
(ii) appears in contrasting colors with
block letters at least one inch in height; and
(iii) is displayed in a conspicuous manner
clearly visible to the public.
