Where were you on 9-11?

I was in Germany. It happened in the afternoon for us. I had just walked in from picking up my little one from school. We walked in and saw it live. I had left the Today Show on the tv. Shortly afterwards the 2nd plane hit. My little one thought his grandparents were on that plane because they were supposed to fly in that Friday.
We pretty much didn't sleep for the next few days. We felt so helpless. It was scary though going through Threatcon Delta on base. I'll never forget how wonderful and respectful the German people were to us. They laid flowers at the base entrance and had candlelight vigils.
Never forget 9-11! Never forget Benghazi!

I was in New Orleans. One of my techs came into my office and said a plane had hit one of the towers. Watched the rest unfold on the TV in the conference room.

Paschal High School, computer science class as a sophmore. I remember when the teacher stopped class and turned on the TV and said "Remember where you are right now".

I had actually just gotten into the shower, my husband came to the shower door, reached in, turned it off, handed me my robe and said follow me, I'll never forget the look on his face.
As an aside, he'd been without work for 6 months, he was sched for a phone interview with Cantor Fitzgerald the next day, or maybe even the day after that, we didn't realize it till the next day, when they started talking about the company the plane had gone into, and had lost so many employees, then they mentioned the name for the hundreth time I finally thought it sounded familiar and went to the computer and pulled up the emails....WOW!

My dad woke me up and said I might want to watch the news. I'm pretty sure it was just in time to see the second plane hit live.

I was driving to work when the first plane hit its target and the news still thought it might be a tragic accident. When I got into the office, people were clustered around a TV and we saw the second plane hit.

At work. It was busy that day and the enormity of what happened didn't hit me until I got home that afternoon and saw it on television.

At work in Dallas. My first job after graduating a few months prior. Heard about it on the radio in my office. Usually keep some music on in the background. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. Every year at this time there is some news channel that has a special in which sounds, radio calls, video of that day is aired. Kids, wife, & I watch and revive those feelings of anger, sadness and pride.
We had the right President at the right time during those years. Thank God.

In high school. When I got to school the librarians were trying to get a TV hooked up to see the news because there was something about a plane crash, but the bell rang before they got it set up and I left wondering why a plane crash was so big a deal that they wanted the TV on. The school administration decided to take the "nothing to see here" approach, so I sat through Spanish class and became increasingly confused when they made an announcement that we were all safe, nothing would be cancelled, carry on as usual. Finally got out of Spanish and when I got to my Physics classroom the teacher had the TV on so we could see the news. At that point I think everything had already gone down so it was all replays and recaps. After a while he muted the TV and tried to teach something, but mostly all of us (including him) were watching the TV.
I have to admit, to this day I'm still angry at the decision the administrators made. I know it doesn't really matter when I found out, it all happened just the same, but I believe it was the wrong decision.

Washington, DC. 2-3 miles from the Pentagon and the same from the White House. It was an interesting week.
