Foss Lake, Oklahoma is in the SW part of OK.

While testing a new sonar device, authorities got 2 strong metallic hits.

One was a 1950's green Chevy, believed to belong to a 69 year old grandfather who disappeared in 1969.
One body is assumed to be the grandfather's, but no one knows who the other 2 were.

The second car was a 1969 Camaro, associated with a group of 3 teens who disappeared in November 1970.
It is believed that the 3 bodies in the Camaro are the 2 missing teen boys, and one teen girl.

Authorities are working to confirm the identities of the 6 dead. No word on how the cars got into the lake.

Creepy.

I hope it brings the families some peace.
The discovery, not the Chevy discussion.

Traded in the last Chevy I'll ever own on a new Tundra. No regrets, the Tundra is the best vehicle I've ever owned.
Back on topic - two cars go into the lake within a short period of each other. No cars go in the lake for decades after. Very strange indeed.

I wondered about that too. Really odd that it was three people in each car.

Of course, maybe they haven't found the other cars yet.

Someone on another site posted a link to a Google satellite view of the ramp area. There is a nice long straight road leading directly to the ramp. Someone not paying attention, lost, and/or in bad weather, or using a road likely deserted at night as a private drag strip (say, for a fairly new, powerful sports car) could easily come up on the ramp and the water before realizing it. When I was a junior or senior in high school, we had a prom at a facility near Monroe Reservoir in Indiana. That night several attendees took a wrong turn and ended up at a boat ramp. One of them told me they nearly drove into the water before they realized the headlight beams were spreading out over the surface of the water.

I'd buy the drag racing with the teenagers, but the 69 year old grandpa...?

The 1969 Camaro appears to be to far gone to restore.
