Are There Other Gun-Friendly Countries?

Out of curiosity, I did some cursory research on Wikipedia  to see what other countries' firearm laws were like. I didn't see any countries that didn't require a license of some kind to own a gun. Are there any out there?

I only know of two countries that are relatively gun-friendly: Texas and (some of) the USA.

Canada at least lets you own a fair amount of killy things if you like long barrels or lots of paperwork. I'll also say Switzerland however military service, or civilian service, are mandatory over there and as a result the gun ownership is really high (you keep your service weapon at home) and things like open carry are pretty common. That said ammo is restricted heavily and guns can only be used for the shooting sports or military purposes.

That's about it for gun "friendly" countries but as everyone else pointed out you can always go to Somalia or some other crap hole and own anything you want but you'll probably have to use it a time or ten.

I like the way you think. I was thinking of Kenya.

Also, Israel.

Israel has strict gun control if I remember correctly. The guns we see are carried by members of the military and reserves.

Do they now? Hmmm, how does that work if nearly everyone is either in or has been in the military? I wonder how many people are actually in the reserves.

It shocked me as well but there are several articles on it. Its more strict than America even though civil service/military service is mandatory. This Wikipedia article has some good points on it. Just scroll down to the Israel section.

Same here. I had thought that Israel and Switzerland were more gun friendly due to the mandatory service. Both seem to be pretty strict for those not in active service or reserves/militia.

Guatemala is the only other country I know of that lets the common man get a concealed carry permit . heck even tourists can get one. Taca airlines lets you fly with your gun. That if rdarn. DECAM (their ATF ) would ever reply. Need to go to embassy in Houston I guess. Been going there for over 10 years and everyone I know carries a gun. usually some excessive "dirty Harry style gun"

Mexico is possible if your are EXTREMELY well connected. but virtually a no go. Haiti is a maybe I think, same with the Philippines .

Texas CHL holder who has lingered around this forum for months. Creeper status. signed up just to reply :)
