Good Ballistic Software

I did a search to make sure I wasn't repeating anything here, and I don't think I am...but if so feel free to point me in the right direction. I am having an Accuracy International rifle built out and putting the Nightforce 8-32 x 56 NXS on it and have been looking for good ballistics software. I know I am going to shoot the 220 Grain Black Hills ammo, and that ammo isn't on any of the applications I have seen so far. Any suggestions or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

220gr Black Hills Ammo is probably Mk248 Mod 1 (http://usarmorment.com/pdf/300WM_load%20data.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

Here's the dope card for that ammo:
http://www.snipercentral.com/shop/produ ... cts_id=769" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have no reason to believe that Black Hills will manufacture something other than to this spec in the 220gr weight.

I can't speak for software though. A good card will let you dial everything in quickly, and no batteries needed :mrgreen:

FYI: That is a LOT of scope power. Don't really need more than 20x to see targets and surrounding zone out to the max range of 300WM. I hit 1000yds easy with a 14x Leupold, and I'm not like some kind of super-sniper soldier.

I use an app on my iPhone called Ballistic AE. It's written by a former sniper, and it is pretty full featured.

That actually looks pretty cool. I might have to get a copy when I get into +50yrd shooting.

I wonder if it can link up with those wifi weather stations they've got now?

best I've ever seen is DEBP.BAS

Written by CE Davis in the early 80's. It supports any normal sized rifle round. I added a recoil calculation section to mine. I also have an electronic version I wrote of the Powley PSI Calculator. These are a great set. They do require Microsoft Basic (not VB) so I have to use DosBox to run them on Windows 7.

Oh and after talking to Black Hills they didn't get the contract on that 220 Grain load. They did all the development and testing and then in typical fashion Washington put it out for RFP and awarded it to Lake City/Federal and it is not easy to find. I did manage to locate a couple hundred rounds that should be here in a couple of weeks, but not easy.
