Borge, 19, told cops that the unnamed boyfried “said something to her that she did not like,” so she “took a water pistol and squirted him with water.”
Neither partner was injured, and Borge was taken to the St. Lucie county jail without incident, IBtimes.com reported.
If you are shot with a water gun, how should you respond?

Water balloons, of course.

While I posted this with my tongue in my cheek, I have to ask.... arrested for shooting a boyfriend with with a water gun? Really? Is this the new standard for DV arrests? And the boyfriend who dumped a bucket of water on her gets off? Sounds like a "disparity of force" situation if I ever heard one.

Seriously? He hit her with the pillow, just because she didn't scream, it's her fault?
Ridiculous!

Cops in some jurisdictions, especially in California and New York, want to create an environment that guns are taboo. If they are taboo then people will not engage in reasonable dialog on the topic. It becomes an emotional issue. That way, the next time a crazy person kills a group of people, the citizenry will have a knee jerk emotional reaction wanting to ban all guns. They don't want people to have reasonable dialog discussing the constitution, liberty and human rights. It is your natural human right to be able to defend yourself with a weapon such as a gun. That's why it is in the constitution, amongst other reasons. They don't want this type of logical conclusion. They want an irrational emotional knee jerk response. By arresting anyone who even so much as mention guns or play with toy guns, they create a taboo topic. This is also the aim of lefties on school boards with their "zero tolerance" policies when expelling students with NRA T-shirts, expelling students who make a gun sign with their hands, shutting down school ROTC marksmanship programs, and giving students failing grades on term papers that are pro-2nd amendment.
What the libs are doing is not dumb, but very smart. It is a political strategy.

So because she did not like what he said it justifies her aquatic assualt? Honestly they both should have gone down town, however by her own words she started it.

Water balloons, of course.

Excessive force, methinks. Assault balloons can hit multiple targets at once without having to aim. Nobody needs that much power.
....that being said...

I just can’t seem to be able to wrap my mind around the police arresting someone for shooting another person with a water gun.
Doesn’t the D.A. make the decision to file charges? If we hear any more about this, it will be interesting to find out what the Grand Jury decides. What would a judge do?

It makes absolutely as much sense as Phila School District suspending a child because they ate a cookie into something that looked like the shape of a gun.
Maybe it was really a super soaker and painted black. Could we call it an EBWG?
What LE should have done is sent them each home and told them to simmer down and take a cold shower.... no wait.......
More seriously
I suspect that the arrest was more because LE thought that it was a DV situation that could escalate. I just cannot imagine the arresting officer trying to tell his superiors about handcuffing someone because of a water gun attack.
Just think of what could have happened without the arrest. They might have resorted to a swimming noodle sword fight and we all know can happen after that.......

I think I love you (platonically, of course!). You're just as twisted as I am!
