With voting coming up I have discovered a potential problem. We recently moved and live out in the country. Our physical address and our mailing address do not match. Our street address is the same but our town and zip are different. Our physical address is in Anton, Hockley Co. while we have our mail delivered a couple of miles away to a mailbox on the state road with a Shallowater, Lubbock Co. mailing address. When we moved the local post offices had a hard time figuring out who we really belonged to.

We dutifully changed our address on our DLs. Since I have a CDL I had to go into the DL office to get it changed and I asked the lady if she wanted my physical address or mailing address. She said mailing since that is where the licensed would be mailed. We've had a few other issues, mainly with deliveries and I have to be very specific about how to find us.

Now it comes to voting time and I am registered in Hockley Co., as I should be, but what happens when I go in and I have a Shallowater address? I run across plenty of folks in Hockley Co. that don't even know our road exists much less where it is. My wife and son got registration cards for Lubbock Co., I assume based off the address.

I'm going to make a few calls today but I was hoping someone else would have already been through this and could give me some pointers.

That's weird, because I am in the same situation. I requested a new CHL online, but had to physically appear for a new DL. In both instances the DPS used my physical address on the license and recorded my mailing address as my PO Box. If I remember correctly, I registered to vote when I went for the new DL and they used my physical address. I would think you'd have to vote based on your physical address in order to be in the correct precinct. Not only might the local officials be different, there might even be a different rep between addresses.

I made a couple of phone calls to the courthouse. Seems I was concerned over a non-issue. The nice lady that answered says they have a number of people that live in the county but have different mailing addresses. No big deal.
