Not a lot of details on this yet. We were just finishing up the CHL class shooting proficiency as this happened. The range is just down the embankment below I35, where it intersects Hwy 170. We saw lights, and heard sirens, and thought it might be related to the police motorcycle rodeo at Cabela's today. Then we saw CareFlight landing, and knew it was more than that.
Tragic story. Waiting to hear the rest.

Gosh, with the way IH-35W is torn up, I'm surprised we haven't had more incidents of road rage in the Alliance area.

So the question is was he beating on the car in an attempt to get the driver out, or did the driver just shoot the guy because he was damaging the car. First scenario may be justifiable. Second and they are gonna have a lot of 'splainin' to do.
And it was on 170, not I-35

To the news media, with their perpetual bias against self-defense, they will automatically claim that anyone who is shot is a "victim", even if its a rapist in the act. Not saying that the shooter in this case was justified, we don't have enough details to make a call about it...but then again, neither did the news media.

It is probably always a good idea to take as many pictures as possible if things like that are happening.

This is literally 3 minutes from my house. I was out of town and my wife texted me saying she heard a gunshot. Crazy. I really hope this is a clean act of self-defense if the shooter has a CHL. We don't need anymore bad press.

The article quote a police officer who assigned the terms "victim" and "suspect," so in this one, isolated situation, I don't fault the paper for reporting it that way.
