The family found out where she was being held, but police weren't responding. So the family took matters into their own hands. She was found battered and bloody, with multiple knife wounds. Her captor, the father of her two-year-old son was killed.
Judice said that while events indicate that the family members acted to protect Arceneaux, police are still investigating the incident. It is not clear whether any of the Arceneaux family will face charges.

Man who shot cleared. Police said all kinds of good things about him.

Lots of different information. Man was part of police organized search party.
Heard screams coming from cabin. Man was stabbing woman at time.
Shot into dark cabin. Didn't hit child or woman.

Seems to have worked out well. Good work.

This story makes it sound like he shot to stop a murder in progress instead of being a case of vigilante justice.

The second story was written differently, with more up to date information. Police were helping find the woman. Family was not vigilante. Man was part of police organized search party. No mention of tip about cabin. Man heard screams as he was randomly searching with police organized search party. Didn't even know he hit something cause cabin was dark. Police have reviewed the case and he was acting per the law. DA will also look at it, and will rule the same, if he wants to be reelected.

Seems pretty straight forward.

Obviously, shooting into the dark isn't a good idea.
Maybe, lack of training, no flashlight, he was afraid and just reacted, but as Phillip964 said, "Seems to worked out well."
