This is news from Edward Snowden and of course has neither been confirmed or denied by NSA or
I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions

While it's true there was something going on there, only one encryption algorithm was affected and it was not the default. You are/were free to choose which one to use and were not forced to use the weakened algorithm unless you were working on a .gov contract.
Very interesting reading all of the NSA leaks.

The NSA has always been building 'super computers to crack codes worldwide.
Me thinks they are just trying to keep up with encryption technology.
