I Am Thinking About Moving To Hawaii

For some Hawaiians, I guess collecting welfare is better than receiving retirement benefits. No Texas??
The Cato Institute released a study showing that welfare benefits pay more

This is definitely a problem. Think it may be why the administration wants to increase the minimum wage?
If welfare is out of whack, increase minimum wage.
If healthcare costs are out of whack, overhaul and take over the insurance industry.
If people are killing people, implement stricter gun laws.
If the globe is warning, wreck industry and throw money at pipe dreams.
If the blind salamander that no one ever sees is endangered, shut down industry.
See a trend here?

To say this situation is frustrating just doesn't cover it. It is no wonder people don't want to work. Reform is not going to happen because the liberals use welfare money to buy votes. The conservative republicans that try to do something, get accused of being heartless thugs who don't care about "poor people", so they back off for fear of losing votes.
I am convinced we are trapped in this vicious cycle of more people becoming more and more reliant on government so they cast their vote for politicians that promise them the most freebies. It will grow like this and likely is going to end with a situation like they have in Greece, but twice as violent because of the huge numbers of people we have reliant on government freebies. They are not going to like it when the credit card reaches the limit and the freebies stop coming.

Put things in perspective people:
According to CNN cost of living calculator that 60K per year in Honolulu is the same as making 36,500 in Dallas. I have a cousin that lives on Oahu. Living in Hawaii is EXPENSIVE.
If I was single I could live on 36K per year, but as the family grows that becomes very difficult.

I am putting things in perspective. I used to live in California!
There is a reason that living in Hawaii is more expensive that living in Camden, Arkansas.
Hawaii has always been expensive, but it doesn't cost anything to lay on the beach everyday.

I wonder how many kids were taken into account for the above. The more kids the more bennies. The cost of living difference makes know difference to me when we are talking about welfare. Move somewhere more affordable. I've taken the cost of living info account everywhere I've moved.

The subject line of my post was "in jest."
I think the term "welfare" is too generic to figure out how much and where the "benefits" [money] comes from.
I haven't done any research on government "welfare" programs, but I know that certain programs cater to people with children [dependents].
The more children they have the more money they receive.
Since I have been working my entire adult life and have no dependents, I really doubt that I am eligible to receive anything.
At any rate, I am too busy working to figure out how I can receive benefits.

If you want perspective, here's mine: Maybe the parasites would get off their rears and get jobs if we didn't give them handouts. Even if they won't get jobs, there's no morally justifiable reason to subsidize their lifestyle of sloth and gluttony on tropical islands.

Even out of state police on official business cannot have a gun in Hawaii.

I do not believe that is accurate. As I recall, I think it was gigag04 that posted about LEOSA carry in Hawaii. They place some roadblocks, sure, but it is legal.
