DELAY - Grrrrrr

Sigh,
So I bought a Glock 17 in 9mm today. NICS came back delayed, yet, three weeks ago, I bought my Kimber and had an approval in about 4 minutes. What gives man? I called NICS and the nice lady said to call the FFL, confirm they had my info right, and ask them to do a status check and confirm NICS has my info right. They did that and he called me back saying it is still DELAYED and sit tight. The information I wrote down is identical to what I wrote down three weeks ago.
NICS did say that arrest records are updated daily and someone with a name close to mine could have been arrested inthe last three weeks. Isn't that the point of providing my SS#?
I am so mad, now I have to be all worried about someone using my identity and messing me up!!!
How often does this happen? What should I do? I can;t just sit around and wait, I need my 9mm, cheaper to shoot and all :-)

I’m interested in the answer to how often this happens. On several other threads there have been discussions about background checks and the 2nd amendment. Several times the comment was made checks are “reasonable and ok since they don’t inconvenience the law abiding citizen that wants to purchase a firearm.
Well assuming BrassMonkey is law abiding, and I assume he is

, here’s a case where it did inconvenience a citizen…

Check back in 3 days, i'm sure you'll be fine.
(NICS has 3 days in which to deny you. if they don't explicitly deny you, you're good to go)

Yeah, but I wanna go play with my cheap ammo firing new toy :-) And I wanna go drop it in the pool and see it still shoot, and fill the barrel with dirt, stick a flower in the muzzle, and still see it shoot. :-D

I've got a friend who is a 03, C&R FFL (like I am). Having a C&R FFL doesn't get you any consideration on non-C&R purchases. And since he's a rather prolific purchaser of anything that's a bargain, he buys lots of non-C&R stuff.
He always got a "delay". Every single time. He lives in a state (Washington) that doesn't have an approved NICS bypass. He went through the process to get the special "I'm a good guy, really!" NICS alternative ID number, but he's still delayed once in every 4 or 5 purchases.
Having a CHL is the only way around that obstacle.

My biggest concern is that I was approved 3 weeks ago on the spot and now it is a delay. I just wonder what the problem is.

Who knows? It could be computer problems, or, like what happened to me once; someone with a similar name is wanted.
Years ago, had the unfortunate honor to share a name with a wanted child molestor. He even lived on a street with the same name as mine. Luckelly, he was quite a bit older than me.
It made for a fun traffic stop many years ago.

Should I replace the plastic guide rod with a stainless or tungsten one?

Can you say "good" and "glock" in the same sentence???
Just kidding.
I would just wait it out and see what the answer is. I'm sure if you have purchased recently there is a perfectly good explanation for this. I do understand, however, you want to go shoot the new hardware. Just got a 1911 myself and have shot it at almost every opportunity. I had to do a little work but tood care of the shooting as often as I could.
Keep us posted on how it turns out.
