A Crosby man is charged with murder after allegedly brandishing a sword and then shooting a man.

Mickey Johnston, 33, is currently in Harris County custody for allegedly shooting and killing Bruce Wagner, 48, with a rifle, officials say.

The incident occurred Friday evening in the 13700 block of Bohemian Hall Road.

According to a Harris County Sheriff's Office release, the two men were arguing around 5 p.m. when Johnston threatened Wagner with a sword.
Wagner then produced a handgun and asked Johnston to drop his weapon, which he refused.

Wagner then fired a warning shot near Johnston, at which point Johnston retreated and came back with a rifle. He shot Wagner, who died at the scene.

I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions without all of the facts, but I am going to guess that the two men were "friends" and had been drinking.

I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions without all of the facts, but I am going to guess that the two men were "friends" and had been drinking.

Based on the available information, I'd say that's as good a working hypothesis as any.

Strange case but not the only way warning shots can get you killed.

BINGO! There is someone who always think they are the exception to the rule. It is the same with texting and driving.

Yep... Then we get to hear a person brag that for blah blah years they have always done blah blah and never had a problem. The only thing I think when someone uses this argument is that their luck is about to run out.

Wagner was not drunk he never drank to that point he was just trying to help someone get out of a bad spot

I think perhaps we need to expand that to weapons and alcohol don't mix....and a sword?...really?

Is it safe to assume this was someone you were related too? If so, my condolences to you and your family.

I know that it was over two years ago, but condolences for your loss. Until a person experiences a tragic loss that can never be given back, one can never understand that the wounds may heal, but the scars never will go away.

I assume that you found this board through a google search and felt compelled to respond. The original poster indicated that he hates to jump to conclusions and he shouldn't have done that.

Nobody actually said that either of the men were drunk, however it may have been implied. The lessons for the rest of us are the same. Guns and alcohol don't mix. Warning shots are a bad idea. And jumping to conclusions often leads to the wrong conclusion.

Too often we read about fatal incidents that do include alcohol or other mind altering drugs.
