Check Out the James Bond-Style Gun That Only Works When Fired by Owner

It’s the kind of technology you’d expect Q to present to 007 just before he rushes out the door to track down the latest villain.

But this new gun is pitched for the everyday users, not just international spies. The Armatix Smart System consists of a gun and a watch that have to be within Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) range of each other to work. Essentially, without the watch, the gun is no more dangerous than a paperweight.

Except for the fact that RFID is EXTREMELY unsecure.

There is a reason why Mythbusters was not allowed to film or air an episode about it. Do a little googling and you will be amazed :)

So you have to wear the watch 24/7. Is it a different watch for each gun, or could a dealer "key them alike?"
And that watch might as well be CHL badge.

Old news, here's an earlier article

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31302&p=363518&#p363518" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It was a dumb idea then, and it is a dumb idea today. Until they start trying to embed us all with the chips I guess :banghead:

I agree the gun and watch deal is old news. My point with the thread is that so called Liberty minded people such as Beck and his staff don't get "it" and seen to be promoting such technology. If not promoting it, at least giving it exposure.

A couple of decades ago this was tried with "ring" the gun owner would wear that would only allow the gun to work when the ring was right on the gun.

:skep:

Someday they will be sold on a gun that is connected to your cell phone that call's 911 before you can shoot it
