As fast as these .380s are flyin' off the shelves, I'm surprised I can't find a review here. Has anyone
put the pistol through it's paces ? I've seen them for $450.00 cash, and a friend in North East Texas
was shipping them for $475.
Thanks

My friend just picked it up Friday so I'll hopefully be shooting it next week some time. I'll post some info about it when I do. Here is a pic of it next to his XDs, pretty similarly sized. Thinner grip and a bit shorter which is what his wife likes about it. They got it for $429 at academy, just walked in at the right time. Too bad it's .380.

I'll review it after they chamber in it 9x19mm, at which point I'll buy one.

Is this a case of Glock timing the .380 fad a bit late?

I believe it is a case of Glock not having a .380 they could market in the US and a case of not wanting to affect sales of the G26 which is what would happen if the G42 had been 9mm.

I like Glock's but why a .380 when the competition is fielding reliable accurate mini 9 mm's?

I have had 2 of them already. Although for only a very short time.
Glock 42, Number 1 - Got a call from the other half that Cabela's got them in and they were going quick. So, I said "YES, bring me one!" And it came home. Inspected it. Looks exactly like a full-size Glock that got shrunk in the dryer. CUTE as a BUG! Cause that's what it is. Put it in a pocket holster and it just disappeared into my front pocket. Perfect. So far, so good. Can't wait to get to the range and try it out.
Next morning - got up, got dressed, just about ready to head out the door, and can't find the 42. It's GONE. No time to search for it, so went on to work. Get a call later on in the day from the other half to give me a range report on MY new Glock! Apparently, it was great. But... I am not happy. I wanted to be the first to shoot MY new gun! You all understand, right?
So, had to wait for the weekend to shoot. And shoot, I did. Put about 100 rounds through it, and it shoots just like a full size Glock. Perfect. Recoil is extremely light for a gun this small. Function is perfect. Sights are right on. Only complaint is the slide release is tight as a tick and tiny too. No problem. We can put an extended slide release on it. We thought.... Until we tore it down and found that it is not the same. Not a lot different. But different enough that a standard slide release won't work. OK, fine. I can wait until Glock figures it out and makes one available.
And, still not happy that I was not the first one to shoot my own gun, other half admits it was not fair, so another one will come home for me. Just me. All mine. OK, I am happy again. Fast forward a couple of weeks. Another Glock 42 finds it way home to me on a Friday night. Perfect. We have a CHL class on Saturday morning. It can go to the range with ME, and, after the class has qualified, we can bond over paper and steel targets. Can't wait.
Saturday afternoon, we have completed the class room portion, I finish up grading tests, and making the CHL-100 certificates, and then head out to the range, where the class is already qualifying. I notice someone else has a new Glock 42, so we strike up a conversation about it. Turns out, they haven't even had it out of the case yet. Brand new. Asked where they found it, and they said "Been looking all over for one, so your other half sold it to me." WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Waiting now for number 3. sigh...

Crossfire,
I hope he did it because there was much profit in the sale?

Great review crossfire. Thanks!
I think this gun is going to be a solid seller. Despite the fact that a lot of folks look down on 380, it has a strong following, and this is a glock after all. There will always be a big market for a great purse/pocket gun. I don't want to stock anymore calibers than what I already have, so no 380 for me, but if not for that objection, I could easily get on board with the 42.
