Holly wood moments with a pro gun theme

I have been thnking about this for a while, with a lot of Liberals making movies and hollywood celebrities speaking out for gun control, wouldn't a good pro gun message in a movie illustrating the benefits of gun rights be refreshing?

I'm not talking where the hero busts in guns blazing and saves the day, but the ones with a spark of reality.

In another thread I saw a post that made me realize that there are some movies and TV episodes that do exhibit that idea, although some very subtly...
stevie_d_64 wrote:Well, I just took a step back in time this evening...I think it was just luck...And Cable TV for that matter...

I was flipping through some of the vast wasteland and came upon the Western Channel...

An old episode of the Rifleman with Chuck Conners was on titled "The Anvil Chorus"

Basically a temporary town marshall was appointed and his first act out of the chute was to ban guns in the town limits...
Of course a local gang of bad guys were waiting for this moment to take advantage of an unarmed town populace...
Of course the plan failed after Lucas McCain (The Rifleman) took care of the bad guys...
I love how things are wrapped up in 30 minutes...

Its amazing how Hollywood at that time put out a product that transends time and speaks volumes to what is pertinent to this thread.........
Another movie that comes to mind is Red Dawn with Patrick Swayze, when the invading Cuban leader tells his men to go to gun shops and get the Form 4472 so they know who to go to to confiscate guns. And how if the Wolverines hadn't been able to hold on to a few weapons during their escape, they would have been unable to inflict some of the damage that the invading army experienced.

I wonder if anybody else has any examples.

I saw Death Wish when it first came out. People applauded at the end of the movie. How often does that happen?

At the end of the movie, the cops told Charles Bronson to leave New York. The last scene has him getting off the train in Chicago. The theater where I saw the movie was in Chicago.

"Open Range" might be another one...

To me it exemplifies a spirit of freedom and basic rights that is trounced upon slightly...

So the trouncers got trounced in the end...

I like that premise...

"Quigley Down Under" is one of my favorites. He shows total control and class, refusing to just be a hired gun. I love when he duels with the bad guy at the end and says, "I never said I didn't know how to use a pistol. Just said I never had much use for one."

Hah, I was just thinking about that yesterday.

Anyone remember what the "nickel-plated sissy pistol" was in that movie? I haven't seen it in like 10 years, and I wasn't into guns then, so didn't pay attention.

Amazing movie.

My favorite part is where the shooting is about to start and Kevin Costner is like "which one of you shot my friend?"

For those that haven't seen it, I won't ruin it.

You beat me to it. Quigley is one of my favorites. I'd love to get into BPCR shooting if I had the time and money. My beloved Enfields' ancestors date to the BP era, and I have a Bubbafied model that's just begging to be converted to .45-70, which is another BP cartridge.

Someday.

Here is some I can think of:

-Aliens " I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. "

-Ronin The part about the "young-guy" Sean Bean bad mouthing the 1911, and De Niro defends it as a "tool" .

-Assassins "now I am acting like a mark...."

I could go on but have to pretend to work since they pretend to pay....

While I can't think of specific examples right now, there are tons of them where perhaps only a scene is so themed. Some of them are on TV because once in a while when my wife and I are watching TV, one of us will say something like "good thing she had a gun".
