Question for Boerne-ites - man with a rifle????

I know I've see a couple of members from Boerne and I have a question about something my brother saw yesterday while we were driving through the city. He is sure he saw a man with a bolt action rifle slung over his shoulder walking down a sidewalk. We were near a park and along side the river. I was driving and looked, but it was too late as we were already past the area. I did look in my rear view mirrors, but didn't see any activity that would lead me to believe anyone was reacting i.e. no police or crowds. We had an appointment in Comfort so I didn't have time to turnaround, but when we came back through a couple of hours later I watched closely without seeing anything. My question is this - Does any one know if someone is in the city is engaged in this type of activity? Just Curious

I didn't see it or hear anything about it. I'll check with some folks I know that will know if there was any trouble or reports. I do know that at least one of the folks that put up a video of a police encounter at a Starbucks at De Zavala and I-10 not too long ado lives in an apartment on the north end of town.
I say this with certainty, depending on which cop or deputy gets the call, he could be in for a ride and hassle.

Thanks. I wish I had been able to turn around but we had to meet a couple of folks and were running a little late.

I checked with a couple of my contacts that should know and they had not heard anything about a call coming in on that. Either a call wasn't made or they just didn't catch it.

Thanks for checking. I wish I had turned around to see what was going on

It turned out we had plenty of time..We were picking up a hood and some other parts for a 1978 Chevy PU and the person we were meeting in Comfort had to leave so he just left the parts by his trailer since they were already paid for.

Catch what? No law broken from what the OP is saying.

Catch that a report of a man with a gun was made by a citizen to the police. Just because a law wasn't broken does that mean no one called to report a man with a gun? Are you looking to make an argument or debate out of a simple discussion with nothing debatable involved?

Simply asking what "they" (presumably the police, based on your context) didn't catch. Nothing illegal done, no laws broken. What would there be to catch? If you are saying no one called it in, there is nothing to debate.
If you are saying an LEO should have caught "it?" There is certainly much to debate. No crime occurred.

Exactly what part of the following sentence do you find hard to understand? It's pretty obvious I was talking about a "call". A "call" could be either a phone call in to the police from a citizen or a "call" over the radio from dispatch to officers.
"Either a call wasn't made or they just didn't catch it."

Like I said if the "they" refers to citizens calling something in...nothing to discuss. If the "they" refers back to your "contacts" plenty to discuss.
At any rate the reality is that a call in by a citizen to tell the police that someone is open carrying a long gun should be treated about the same as someone calling the police because I have a chainsaw and am cutting a tree down. Both a chainsaw and a gun are tools, no laws were broken, and there is no reason to waste LEO resuources.

I knew you were looking to make this into a debate. I'm not going to oblige you though. I will state, yes, check with a couple of cops that were on duty at that time to see if they had heard any calls come in regarding a man with a gun. I did not state my opinion if there was a crime committed or if a call should have been made. I just checked with those I know to see if "they", yes the cops, could by chance confirm if the guy was walking down the street with a gun. They couldn't. Now have fun with your debate. I won't be participating.

"They" shouldn't have cared anymore about a guy legally carrying a gun than someone mowing their lawn. Not debating a thing. The law is the law. Got a grill to tend to but feel free to check with your "contacts" to see if anything else happened in Boerne that wasn't illegal or notable.

Key words:
should be.
Only in a perfect world.
You know that is not the world we live in today.
