I can remember my father and grandfather discussing the "cross channel pipeline." My grandfather held a couple of patents for pipe.

That was very cool. I knew our supply lines were the critical component of the whole effort, but I had no idea this was done during the invasion.

I have read a couple of books and watched many documentaries about D-Day and I don't remember ever hearing about this.

Very impressive. I had no idea. I love the disguising of the pumping stations. Makes perfect sense they would need to do something like that to supply the vast amount of fuel required to sustain the fight. I wonder how many more stories of similar nature are still relatively unknown?

Thanks for sharing. :tiphat:

That was quite an enlightening video. With all that I've read about WWII, I had never seen anything
about this.

Thanks for posting the video. I was aware of the pipeline but this video included detail that was great.

WWII was the peak for the U.S. in many ways.

I'm just thinking of all that lead pipe sunk near Bristol... imagine how many cast bullets!

I was surprised at how small a diameter the pipe was. I would have expected something a bit larger. Pretty neat idea, and nice video find. Thanks.

If it pumped 24/7 into storage tanks it wouldn't need to be any larger.
