Instructor class & CHL Renewel question and changes.

Post by maximus2161 »

Hey folks. Several years ago I had my Instructor license. Due to a hectic life I had to let it lapse. I figured I would have to repeat the class and when I called down to Austin they said now two NRA courses are required then you can apply? Just wondering what the process is now because I couldnt understand what the guy was saying. He just confused me.

Also, how are the CHL renewals handled now for regular CHL holders? I took my last CHL renewal from Crossfire. My CHL will expire April 2015. I heard they will use the prints on file and your picture? I have heard several different versions that there is a class...there is no class...there is no range qualification..etc. What is actually correct.

Thanks folks!

If this was covered ina different sub forum I missed it.

The regular CHL is now renewed online. There is no class or shooting qualification. It is true that you now need some type of Instructor certification (specified online) and the NRA is one type that qualifies. I can only imagine they are talking about the NRA Basic Instructor Training Course (required for all NRA Instructor quals) AND the NRA Basic Handgun Instructor Course. These courses are normally taught simultaneously.
