Wow, that is sad. Mowing the lawn is even risky. I've never had my wallet while mowing, or working in the yard. I've never thought about carrying while mowing either, but now...?

I was power-washing my backyard deck and driveway today.

Had my holstered handgun on my right hip. :coolgleamA:

When I was out mowing my yard yesterday several neighbors were also out. Since the arthritis in my back was hurting and it was so warm, I decided that it was safe enough not to have my sidearm weighing on my belt. So I just stuck a Taurus TCP in my pocket

I always carry while doing yard work (actually 95% of my waking hours) .... two rounds of snake shot up front as I hate snakes. But, my neighbors never notice gun shots anyway. Country life a half mile from the city limits :cheers2:

Be extra vigilant this time of year: In the past 1 1/2 weeks, I've had 3 cottonmouths in my yard.

Aaarghhhh....yard work and snakes. I can't decide which one I despise the most. I get awful looks from Mrs SDT when I suggest my favorite landscaping is layered concrete! So useful though - no mowing and makes the snakes easy to spot. :thumbs2:

I always carry when doing yardwork. I even carry when I get the newspaper. I either have the 938 in my pocket or the Shield on my hip. If I'm at the farm I have the Glock (good for hauling hay) and my Henry.44 mag near by. I even get to carry at work. When I go to bed the cough, cough, the M&P 9mm is beside me. Other than that, I don't carry much....

I agree. Yard work should be avoided whenever possible. It cuts into my quality sofa time.

Alternatively if you have to be armed while you feel safe cutting the grass, maybe its time to move.

Exact same here. Snakes in the garage or barn get picked off by other means.. and re-located if I'm feeling nice.
We've got dogs and kids. If the snake appears to be a pit-viper, that's it. I've seen them climb trees and do all sorts of things.

If someone demanded demanded money with a gun while I was mowing, I'd hand them the wallet... At that point, you're already substantially disadvantaged.

Sure, just tell me where a gun would 100% not be needed while doing the yard.

Um, color me confused, by that logic, then never leave the house, go to the store, get gas, or do anything else, and even then, you just may need your gun, in your house.

Doesn't that totally negate the need for a gun at all?'

Gosh I am hoping you are just joking....
