Hoodie men rob Dennys at I45 and Cypresswood

Video shows hooded men robbing employees and patrons of the Denny's. They took wallets and cell phones.
Note to self, no late night visits to restaurants located near freeways.
Note to self, always carry a second magazine.

Very few people in dining area. Obviously didn't know what was going on. Only one BG on camera in dining area, so probably one on one. If I had a chance to take him with his back to me, I probably would.

Too bad they're still walking around in Society. These predators need to meet someone who refuses to be a victim.

A simple robbery can turn bad very quickly. A patron does not want to give up her wedding ring, the robber puts the gun to her child's head.
The screams of a teenage girl being molested by a robber in front of you. Imagine.
Which is worse, the metal wounds to you by doing nothing or the risk of physical wounds.
With a second magazine, especially with the common tactic now of having three or four armed robbers, makes the decision simpler.
I would hate to start a fire fight and run out of ammunition.

I have had my carry license for only two months so my question originates from the position of a newbie. If I were the patron at the table in the lower part of the video who had a pistol pointed at me, would I be legally justified in drawing and shooting the guy in the back as he walked away from me?

Not saying the Violent Criminals would get as far along as "walking to the door with my wallet", but if they did manage to get that close to the door they wouldn't be walking through it as long as I have any life left in my body.
Avoiding Houston may be the best option until those folks get things sorted out. It sure seems like they have an extremely high rate of armed thugs violently robbing unarmed people. I wonder if this has had any major effect on CHL numbers increasing there.

He is still actively committing aggravated robbery. Blaze away!
Sec. 9.32. DEADLY FORCE IN DEFENSE OF PERSON.
(a) A person is justified in using deadly force against another:
(1) if the actor would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.31; and
(2) when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:
(A) to protect the actor against the other's use or attempted use of unlawful deadly force; or
(B) to prevent the other's imminent commission of aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated robbery.
(b) The actor's belief under Subsection (a)(2) that the deadly force was immediately necessary as described by that subdivision is presumed to be reasonable if the actor:
(1) knew or had reason to believe that the person against whom the deadly force was used:
....
(C) was committing or attempting to commit an offense described by Subsection (a)(2)(B);

While the robbery is in progress, it doesn't matter which way they're facing. It's open season on robbers.

The second part of "bring enough gun" is "bring enough ammo".
In view of the fact that robberies are often team ventures, having a minimum of 15 - 20 rounds of 9mm or bigger ammo available only makes good sense. If you engage one, you may have to engage all.
