I was shot at while driving down the Gulf Fwy

I was going south on the Gulf Fwy with my wife in the passenger seat just south of the Monroe overpass. When we heard what sounded like a bolder hitting the side of my truck on the passenger side door. It wasn't until I got home that I inspected what I thought was a rock hit. Instead it looks like a pellet or one hell of a powerfull BB gun. Had it been a bigger caliber it would have hit my wife in her side. I did report this to the police.

Geez! I'm glad you're both ok! Does anyone know if there are any legal issues with having 360° of camera coverage in your car? It obviously won't make you bulletproof, but I can't think of any other way to find who's randomly shooting at moving vehicles.

Hard to tell the diameter, but I would guess it was a pellet.

Ouch. Glad you & your wife are okay, and that the cops (or somebody) catch the jerk who's doing this. You're probably neither the first, nor the last.

Glad you guys are ok. I can remember years ago having to be very watchful around overpasses. Kids would hide and throw rocks or bricks at cars just before they would reach the overpass. Very dangerous.
Your incident is probably a teenager that doesn't realize how dangerous a game he is playing.

IMHO too short range. A reference to see the size would be helpful. A pellet from a passing car or a stray .22 round from a sizeable distance.
Hope this was a one time event. Glad no one was hurt.

I have a dent like that on the side of my suburban. It happened while I was driving south on the East Sam Houston Tollway around that big park on the West side of the beltway. I figured it was a pellet rifle. Never reported it.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. When I get back to College Station I'll put a pellet up next to it and post another picture. It sure looks like the size of a pellet.

Someone might have had a bearing fail on the road there. Another car goes by and their tire hits a ball bearing and it smacks your car. Sorry, but it seems more likely than someone sitting on the road shooting at cars with a pellet gun.

I guess I could shoot my driver door with my pellet rifle and compare the two dents. I did hear a noise like the firing of a air gun prior to the sound of something hitting my truck. With the right type of pellet my rifle will shoot 1250 FPS.....just saying.

I too suspect a pellet. We have an old metal bowl we shoot with my son's Gamo pellet gun. I can't see how it would make a similar dent and sound to what is shown and described in the OP.
