Proper intervention?

I'm not quite sure how to feel about this. One one hand, he stopped a robbery and potentially spared this woman from whatever actions these robbers would have committed as a result of her not letting go of the purse, but on the other hand, Mr. Good-Guy ends up standing out in the middle of a crowded parking lot with his weapon pointed at two people he just pulled out of a vehicle and put on the ground waiting for the cops to arrive (which we know can sometimes be 30 minutes, if not longer).

My question is, would you have intervened if you had seen this happening? I think we've all played out similar scenarios out in our minds where we save a situation by (possibly unnecessarily) stepping into it, gun drawn, but more often times than not, I imagine, things don't go as planned. The robbers were probably just some goof-balls driving around and snatching purses from distracted people with no other intentions than that, but it could have gone south in a hurry if they were both armed. I got my CHL to protect my family and myself from possibly fatal situations, not to play hero and PUT myself in these situations. I am grateful that things turned out okay for this guy, and I'm sure the mother that was robbed is too. I'm not bashing him or saying he was wrong, per se, just pointing out some potential flaws with the action of intervening in a situation.

Also, this is my first post. If I've done quite a bit of reading on here, but I'm not 100% familiar with the whole layout yet, so if this is posted in the wrong area, please feel free to redirect me.

Adios :tiphat:
