Instead he kept the dog alive for six months.

Dog's former parents received a tip from a former employee that their 4 year old dog wasn't euthanized as they instructed and paid the Vet to do.

They recovered the dog and are shocked that their trust was violated.

They are happy that the dog is alive, but are outraged.

So this is a matter that requires a raid?

The world has become very confusing place to me.

That's just six kinds of wrong. If you view dogs as family, that's kidnapping. If you view them as chattel, that's theft. Neither is acceptable, especially when a subsequent examination reveals that there is nothing wrong with the animal, and that the vet's advice to euthanize was an obvious scam.

Or the young dog needed a $2000 surgery and the custodians of the animal said put it down.

The vet didn't and did the operation off the clock cause he didn't want to put it down.

Texas law pets are property.

Who doesn't stay with their family member as they are being euthanized?

No, the dog apparently had a specific blood type and he was using it for transfusions and then charging other customers. Also, the vet recommended the dog be put down so he lied to the dogs owner for his own personal gain.

This is wrong in so many ways. He should go to jail for theft as well as lose his license to practice.

The raid was because the same tipster that informed the family about their dog also tip the authorities about animal abuse happening at the vets office

So is the disgruntled employee going to be charged also since he did not say anything until he left?

Wow....I don't even know what to say......I'm a huge animal lover and hate to think of any of them suffering. Kind of a weird situation!

Be outraged some more. They said this was an old vet who had been in practice a long time. This is very old school. Not sure what new vets do for blood. Maybe there is a doggie and kitty blood bank in today's politically correct world.

Most vets do not become vets for personal gain. They do it because the love animals. Much easier and much more profitable to become a vet for humans.

No doubt if any one was charged for blood, they were charged for the transfusion labor, not the blood itself. A Vet would not tell someone their pet needs to be put down, just to have a transfusion animal. There are way too many at the pound that are killed everyday to ever need to do that.

No doubt the families pet was happy with the arrangement.

I'm still betting on the family didn't want to pay for the treatment the dog needed.

:iagree: Getting into a school to become a DVM is more competitive than getting into medical school to earn an MD.

That is all just wild conjecture.

Just lovely that Fort Worth is in the UK news. It's bad enough they get Animal Cops Houston on their cable.

Evening news says the vet has been arrested.

Found out Houston has a dog and cat blood bank. Still trying to find out how they get the blood.

Fort Worth may not have access to such a bank.

Pretty bad, if as stated in last article.

Remember to purchase medical care just like anything else, shop around, get second opinions.

This is just weird. I mean really weird.

Why not offer to do the surgery at a reduced rate in exchange for the family permitting the dog to become a blood donor if it was that lucrative? That leaves a family grateful, leaves the dog in it's home, and still fills the blood bank.

Why get yourself in so much trouble?

Vets license suspended. Charged with animal cruelty. Admitted to keeping four animals there for blood.

I found out the Vet blood bank in Houston gets its blood from the animals they supposedly keep there.

I'll still be confused a while longer.
