I thought it was long settled that taking pictures of "public servants" was allowed.
On further perusal, it appears that she was not doing it openly and was merely recording the voices.

I believe that in Texas as long as one party knows it is legal.
However I am not a lawyer so I'll have to ask that someone step in here...

If the police did nothing wrong, they should have nothing to be afraid of.

Isn't that the same thing the anti's say about gun registration, or even many of us decline to allow our cars searched (voluntariily)?
Or allowing the police (insert FBI, or other group as you see fit) to search your house without probable cause (and without a warrant of course)

Not the same at all. The police officer is performing a public duty, paid by public money, backed up by qualified immunity and public power. He is not acting as a private individual, and there is certainly a public interest in keeping tabs on his activity. It is not the same proposition at all as the State rifling through your home, your gun cabinet, or your car just because it wants to.
For cryin' out loud, don't police have enough trouble explaining the unpleasant stuff they actually need to do, without going out and doing unjustifiably dumb stuff as well?
