The title says it all.

Maybe Texas will follow suit.

I have a lot of family members in Arkansas - they would trade gun laws with us in a heartbeat.

How is their castle doctrine? VA has great carrying laws, but our castle doctrine is weak. If you have to shoot to defend your life you will need a good lawyer.

That letter was premature and there is a lot of conflict in the way the law is being interpreted. See http://thecabin.net/news/local/2014-02- ... -confusion" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'd have to ask about their castle doctrine.
The differences that I am aware of:
Gun buster signs have force of law to prevent CC
Church carry is a no no without permission from church officials
You must inform a home owner before entering armed

Overall you are very limited in where you can CC in AR. From what I understand, justification for use of deadly force is also much more restrictive than TX law.

As the article provided earlier states, Open Carry is not legal in AR and car carry without a license is much more restrictive.

Curious... anyone know how this was accomplished politically speaking?

The Arkansas Project article, "Dustin McDaniel Is Wrong About Act 746."
July 23, 2013 by Nic Horton

IANAL and don't presume to know whether this guy really knows what he is talking about. But it does sound logical to me.

I think the bottom line is that unless the Arkansas Legislature changes the law, it will eventually be decided (interpreted?) in court.

Here is the simple fact, open carry in AR will get you cuffed and stuffed.

That will certainly be the prelude to a "test case." Then we'll have to see what the court decides, then wait for the inevitable appeal. If I understand correctly, the intention of 746 was to eliminate penalties from an accidental exposure of a gun in a vehicle. I'm surprised the legislature doesn't rewrite that section to do what they originally wanted.

May be waiting a long time for that test case.

Not in the next five years, not after the stunts they've pulled.

The title of this thread should be changed to "A small sector of Arkansas population believe Constitutional Carry has been passed".
