So I got injured and I......

So I recently got injured and due to medical issues could not wear a belt or rack the slide on my semis. I've heard the stories of people being injured in combat or on duty and having to fall back on their training for one armed reloads etc. Well after surgery and being back home I finally realized the importance of practicing those kinds of things. My two primary carry rigs are setup for OWB with either a Glock 17 or a XDs 45. I think I sat there for a good thirty minutes trying to load one mag with dummy rounds to try and practice loading my firearm. After about two hours of feeling like an idiot I remembered my BUG in the safe. My J-frame had sat in there alone and neglected since I purchased my semi's. I had forgotten the many holsters I had purchased when I first got it. Due to not being able to wear a belt the only real holster I could use was a nemesis pocket holster. Check one thing off my list. I pulled out a box of wad cutters I had bought for them along with some buffalo bore and federal hollow points. I remembered shooting them on the range and the wad cutters were extremely controllable with one hand. Check another off my list. Now to see if I could load the darn thing. Yup...much easier than loading a double stack mag with one hand. Check another off the list.
This is far from my ideal setup but given the circumstances I'm glad I had that j-frame tucked away. Much better than just a sharp stick. Going to hit up the range asap to make sure I can shoot this well.
So if you haven't thought about being injured/sick or what not please learn from my mistakes and make sure you have something you can operate (load, unload and shoot).
