As Grayson explained in the debate, his amendment would have limited effect. The amendment would not reverse any of the transfers that have already taken place, and it would allow transfers of guns and ammunition to continue unimpeded. What the amendment would do according to its language is stop the transfer under a Department of Defense program of the following items: “aircraft (including unmanned aerial vehicles), armored vehicles, grenade launchers, silencers, toxicological agents (including chemical agents, biological agents and associated equipment), launch vehicles, guided missiles, ballistic missiles, rockets, torpedoes, bombs, mines or nuclear weapons.”

ok lets be clear here, NBC weapons and most of the rest of the list are covered under other laws and are illegal to convey to CIVILIAN authorities already so whats the point? This bill is nothing more than grandstanding by Ronny and just as ineffective as Ronny himself

So then what's the point of voting against it? And btw, it's not Ronny's Bill.

hmmm do we really need another gun control law? more useless legislation? are you sure you want to go there? if you believe in this new useless law so much tell me why, there are already laws that limit what is transferred from the military to Civilian authorities, these disallow weapons like NBC grenades and other items as well as the firearms, surplus vehicles are given yes but not the weapon systems or the other classified systems on them just the bare bones vehicle, no tanks no jets no UAV's the sale of these have to go thru DRMO and are usually demilitarized before sale as scrap so this new law does nothing I see other than require that surplus vehicles be demilitarized(destroyed) before they can be sold. No I do not believe that the local police force with 3 officers needs to have them selves and RV(MRAP) or anything like it but in Chicago they need tanks and armor piercing ammo just to stay afloat.

No they don't, they need less gun control and prosecutors and courts that actually put miscreants in prison. In lieu of that they need to apply the law to gang bangers just like they'd apply it to me if they found me with a gun in my possession. Also, I don't think the police should be able to possess any weapon I can't possess. The police are civilians just like the rest of us. If they want to throw grenades and shoot machine guns they need to join up with the army or the USMC.
