Yesterday, I ordered a 642 from Gallery of Guns. It should be ready for pickup Tue. or Wed. I presume. That will work for pocket carry for 2-3 weeks until I get my Glock coupon and make a decision on which 9mm I'm getting. Right now I'm debating between a stock 19 and a 26 with +2 mag extensions. The pants I usually wear have deep front pockets that would carry the 26. I tried it at my LGS yesterday and with stock magazines it fit fine with an inch or so to spare. It cants in the pocket 10-15 degrees or so which would accommodate the +2 in the same area the stock mag would occupy if it were straight 90 degrees instead of canted.

Don't forget a good pocket holster for the J-frame and the Glock when you get it.

I picked up a S&W 640 Pro last month. Its quickly becoming my favorite gun.

I had an Uncle Mike's for my last J frame. It got a bit raggedy after some years of use so I retired (disposed of) it. I'll look for another of those for the J frame. I'm not sure what I'll do with the Glock. I'll have to research that some.

The DeSantis Nemesis is a good holster.

I like the Galco Horsehide holster.

Galco also makes what they call "Procket Protector." I am not found of this one, but it may work for you.

I would try that Glock again with a holster... I don't find them to be pocket guns.

If I'm going to spend Galco level money I'm buying Tucker. I'll probably wind up trying 2 or 3 different things at least before I finally settle on one thing.

The size and shape of the grip of a semiauto in a caliber above .380 causes it to snag on even cargo pants pockets.

The grip shape of the J frame is very pocket friendly. It can be drawn very quickly from a good pocket holster with little risk of snagging, particularly with the concealed hammer models.

I wasn't speaking about the J frame... I specifically addressed the Glock he is thinking about getting next.

And not all semiautos above .380 are non-pocket friendly. It very much depends on the pants worn. I carry a Kel Tec PF9, and a Sig P290RS in a pocket in many of my shorts and pants, but they don't fit in all of them. The G26 is longer and wider than both of these pistols, so it doesn't work at all for me. If I am going to wear a proper belt and holster, I just carry a G19.

Not a personal attack...but I have a decent amount of experience with pocket carry and have never really had any sort of close calls. I have to ask, Why would you be fumbling around in a pocket that has a gun in it? Below are some basic fundamentals that I've learned on this board and via experience:

1. Any gun in any pocket should have a pocket holster that covers the trigger
2. That pocket is a gun only pocket...no loose change or cell phone allowed.
3. The only 3 reasons you reach into that pocket are to draw, disarm, or possibly make an occasional adjustment...in which case you should be very careful.
4. A quality pocket holster such as Remora or Nemesis has rubber grippy dots that stick in the pocket and the gun comes free on the draw. If a person practices, they can do this easily.

There are a lot of people on here who carry "light" with athletic shorts, golf shorts etc. We should value those opinions...they come from real world experience. The J frame will be a great pocket gun and I have a couple of friends who wallet carry their G26's with great success and concealability. Good Luck to the OP!
