Andy,
That's awesome. I can't think of anything better than a father and son hunting together. I only had a few opportunities to hunt with my dad in my youth, but I cherish them and they're still highlights in my life. No doubt this hunt will be special and I sincerely hope it works out that you'll have many more. Good shooting!

Sounds like a great trip you've got planned.
Yes, I'm looking forward to this year's dove hunting. My 14 year old has his own shotgun this year, a single shot 12 gauge, so he's really excited. I figured he should get the snot kicked out of him for a few years like I did. Then he can be motivated to upgrade on his own

Sounds like it will be an incredible experience. My dad was a hunter years before I was born but having had me later in life and heavily invested in keeping his business afloat, there wasn't much time for us to hunt. I never got the chance.
This dove season will probably be my last in Texas so I will be trying to go out with friends a couple of times at least. I will enjoy it when the weather cools down more also!

Great for you both. I hope it is a fantastic and memorable hunt for you both.
I will never forget the last goose hunt my dad and I did the winter before he was diagnosed with cancer.

My son (12 yrs old) and I have a deer hunt planned for Nov 8 & 9. Also trying to hunt some hogs at grandpa's house on labor day weekend. Wish I could get more deer hunts, but there are a lot of competing factors. Trying some of of those TPWD drawn hunts.

I am interested, if anyone has a land in North Texas and would like to get rid of some Hogs let me know. I have no need for pigs. So, someone has to collect the downed ones.

I was up at my deer lease Tuesday and Wednesday. Put 1500lb of corn in the feeders (thank goodness for Aleve). Saw more deer this year than last, so maybe we'll have a better year. We are pretty selective in what we kill, mainly looking at age. Always enjoy watching them no matter.
Saw plenty of doves but we can't bird hunt on our lease, though.

We have no hogs, thank goodness. W had a few in the past but shot them all I guess. Haven't seen any in 8-10 years. We had two Emu's after the 1998 flood and they stuck around a couple of years. Funny birds.

AndyC, sounds like a great time. Enjoy the hunt with your Dad.
I'd take my Father-in-Law, even after he got to the point where he couldn't get around, or
handle the shotgun, and we'd just sit on the tailgate and visit. My best hunts.

It didn't happen last year so I am looking forward to having my first deer hunt here in Texas.

M dad and I used to hunt every year. Then Alzheimer's got him and he is no longer able to go. Before he got sick, we actually had a 4 generation hunt. My oldest grandson, my son, me and dad. What a memorable weekend that was.
