Anyone here wear them here?

I've been wearing Vasque Sundowners for years made in Italy.

Now, they're made in China and aren't as high in quality. They look the same, but aren't...

So, Hanwag is a super high quality boot and I'm looking into buying a few pair.

Thing is, they make so many models I don't know where to start for hikers or work boots. Ah, my work is what I make of it as I've been retired for years, but like doing rough and tumble stuff like removing tree stumps and other fun stuff...chain sawing, etc.

So, any of you wear them and if so, let me know your experience with them.

Haven't tried those, but my go-to footwear is a pair of boots made by Catskill Mountain Moccasins. They're made here in the U.S., with materials from the U.S. They make a mold of your foot and lower leg, then hand make a custom pair of boots to your specifications. They're not cheap, and there's a wait, but they're supposed to last forever with care (treating the leather, resoling as needed, occasional replacement of the sheepskin insoles). Not sure if it would fit with what you're looking for, but I've found them to be good all-purpose footwear and I rarely wear anything else. Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

My pleasure! Their website is here http://www.catskillmoccasins.com/, but most of the photos on the website are of their more extreme designs (they market at the Renaissance Festivals). My pair is very conservative -- a couple of shades of brown leather, no fancy trim or patterns, and four buttons so they come to a few inches above my ankles. My husband's are plain black. They are unfortunately based in NY, but some of the individual makers work from their own workshops around the country. The owner, Mark, seems like a good guy. We lost our first pairs of boots in a fire (Bastrop a few years ago) and he gave us a nice discount on replacements.
