Mayor candidate Mike Martinez is as anti gun as a man can get. If he gets into the mayors office we can expect trouble

Isn't he the loon that make a last ditch effort to get votes by promoting the erection of a 15' tall statue of Obama in Austin?

I've driven behind him in traffic. His car is plastered with Obama, La Raza, and LULAC stickers.

Sounds like a buffoon to me. He's running around 35% with the gap widening so he probably doesn't have a chance. One good thing about it, no matter who wins they have no control over State Firearms Laws where they matter.

That sounds too sane for anyone who just ran in the local Austin elections.

I picked up this week's Chronicle to read while waiting for a church meeting. I forget how strong the leftwing currents are in in Austin proper until I read one. Its fascinating. I do believe Obama would be considered a rightwinger by some there.
The ads and views were...interesting. Don't let Austin go Red! from the Democratic Party, that sort of thing.

If Houston goes into recession in early 2015 it will be an interesting study in seeing how tied Austin really is to the rest of Texas. Meanwhile Lake Travis is at 35%. :eek6
