I am offering a custom-built AR-10 SASS rifle, chambered in .308/7.62 NATO for sale. With the right ammunition, this rifle is a tack-driver. Although my faulty eyes cannot duplicate this, I have watched my son put 4 rounds into 1 hole at the 100 yard line at Elm Fork, using this rifle. Personally, I'm good for about .75 MOA with it. The person I bought it from has shot 4.5" groups at 640 yards with it. I have not had it out beyond 100 yards yet. Due to its unloaded and naked weight of 11 lb 5 oz (measured on my wife's cuisinart kitchen scale), this is not a "stalking rifle", but it would make an excellent rifle for shooting hogs from either a stationary platform like a stand, or from a truck or helicopter. I lost track of the round count, but I know for a fact that it is less than 200 rounds through this barrel. The trigger is a 2 stage match trigger, with a 2 lb 4 oz takeup, and a very crisp 4.5-5lb break, measured on my Lyman digital trigger scale, and no overtravel. A gunsmith has honed the trigger so that it breaks like a glass rod. Pictures at the bottom of this post.

The component prices listed below are MSRP. Some of them might be bettered, but others like the barrel price, you'll be lucky to find at full price.
So far, that represents $2,302.30 in value, even without knowing the prices of the bolt carrier or the Noveske bolt upgrade, and the buffer tube assembly.

Also included:
Now we are up to $2,581.85 in value.

Additional features/items:
  • I sent the BCG out to be Electroless Nickle-Phosphate plated. It might be a more expensive process than simply buying a NiB plated BCG, but it guarantees a more even distribution of the plating while keeping the layer thin so that the fit of parts are not adversely affected, and the top layer of plating is almost ceramic like in smoothness. There is no known cost for this service, as this BCG was part of a test for this technology. It holds up beautifully.
  • The barrel was fitted to the upper receiver by Noveske, who trued everything up, and machined the M4 feed ramps into the receiver. Cost of this service unknown.
  • Original OEM charging handle included.
  • Spare flashhider, a YHM Phantom 7.62 - $53.00 - http://yhm.net/phantom-7-62-comp-flash-hider-1080.html
  • 3 standard .308 "circlip-style" bolt gas seal rings (3 are required) - http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/bo ... =231000290" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
  • 2 JP Enterprises 308AR Enhanced Gas Rings (1 of these replaces 3 regular rings) - http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/ga ... =452000169

    (Please note: the bolt currently has one of these enhanced gas rings on it. These rings will cause a bolt to fail the normal test for gas seal—standing the BCG on end on the extended bolt. Normally, worn rings will cause the carrier to collapse downward under gravity. Standard rings depend on a friction fit between the OD of the ring, and the ID of the carrier. This friction is what causes the un-worn rings to overcome gravity and keep the carrier from collapsing. The enhanced rings do not work that way. They are ground to a perfect fit against the ID of the carrier, and there is little or no friction. Consequently, when the BCG is extended and stood on end, the carrier will collapse down because there is no friction to prevent it. This is normal. The advantage is that your gas seal will last a lot longer.)
This rifle is much more than just the sum of its parts. It is exceedly accurate and very very well put together, and the hands of some of the finest gunsmiths in the AR world have had a part in assembling it.

$2,000.00 Firm takes the whole shebang.

FTF preferred. I am located in Grapevine. Not interested in trades. I'll post it here exclusively for a few days. If there is no interest, I will post it on other sites as well.
