Since this is Never Again forum, here is a never again for this guy. Why don't people pay attention to signs?

Because some signs shouldn't apply to CHL holders. I'm responsible, and I should be able to carry a loaded CONCEALED weapon wherever I go.

With that said - I agree with you on one side of it. If you'll be showing a gun in any way, unload the stupid thing!

I'm wondering if the George R. Brown Convention Center has real valid 30.06 signs. I know someone on this forum has check them out.

How would the management at a facility with thousands of gun owners who will be looking at holsters, guns, etc., discern you from the idiots like the one who shot himself.

You always go with the lowest common denominator. It is the extreme of selfishness to demand your "rights" above those of others or in this case, the safety of all.

my only problem, is the not being able to carry to and from the Show.
someone who knew a little something might be inclined to sit out in the parking lot....

we should all send this guy a thank you card for damaging our collective reputations.

With all due respect, I disagree- With that reasoning, we shouldn't allow a lot of things in society that we now view as "rights". People abuse their rights all the time and more people make "lowest common denominator" type mistakes all the time. I don't think it's selfishness at all to believe that those who follow the rules shouldn't be penalized because of someone else's stupidity.

Here's where I'm coming from. Anti-gun people want to outlaw or otherwise regulate our right to gun ownership & carry for "the safety of all". They want to take away our "rights" because of their view of what will create a safer society. Is it selfishness to demand and fight for our right to own and carry guns because others abuse that right and commit crimes and make mistakes? We've all seen proof that no matter how many laws and no-guns sign we have, people are still able to make stupid mistakes and cause havoc.

The solution isn't to limit everyone's rights - it's to educate, work for better enforcement of current laws and regulations, and to always be alert.

Using the Houston Gun Show as an example - If you or I were legally carrying a loaded, concealed weapon that day how would this have helped/hurt the situation? It has no bearing on it, because the guy who shot himself made a stupid decision. He carried a loaded weapon into the show and then proceeded to PULL IT OUT. He would have done the same thing whether I or you or anyone else was carrying.
