Funny, I am currently reading a collection of horror stories written in the early 1900's. I get a kick out of the language, and it takes a bit of getting used to.

Thanks, Andy. As a dedicated fan of 19th Century British writing I find this book of great value. FWIW, any of you out there who are Kindlers can purchase it for your Kindle for $0.99. To purchase this classic volume in its "coffee table (Bodleian Library) edition" can cost you almost $80 at Amazon.com.

Thanks Andy and b32da. having exhausted C.S.Forrester I have been delving ever farther back in time and will see my kindle copy as a great resource for figuring out what what a particular turn of phrase means.
