The past 3 weeks or so there have been no Sunday insert ads from Academy,
hence I haven't posted any threads from Academy.

The following firearms are listed in the Academy Sports and Outdoors ad,
and are valid for the week of March 8-14, 2015.

Primary sort = Revolvers, then semi-automatic pistols.
Secondary sort = Ascending by caliber.

REVOLVERS.
Heritage Rough Rider cowboy style, .22 LR/.22 Magnum, 6 rounds, SA, $189.99.

Charter Arms Lavender Lady, snubbie, 5 rounds, .38 Special, DA.
The barrel and cylinder are bright, the <sideplates?> are lavender, the grip is black.
$379.99.

SEMI-AUTOMATICS.
Beretta Pico Inox, .380 ACP, 6 + 1 rounds, DA, $399.99.

Diamondback DB, 9MM, 6 + 1 rounds, DA, $299.99.
IMHO, from what I've heard, if you only have $300 to spend on a 9MM,
get the Taurus below.

Taurus Millenium Pro G2 (Generation 2), 9MM, 12 + 1 rounds, second strike capability,
DA/SA, $299.99.

Sig Sauer P250, 9MM/15 + 1 rounds; .40/13 + 1 rounds. DA, $379.99.
I've never shot one. Can someone please comment on this one?
IMHO, this seems like a nice name brand pistol for reasonable money.

Smith and Wesson M & P C(ompact), 9MM, 12 + 1 rounds, DA, $469.99.
A 17 round, 9MM Smith and Wesson magazine is $39.99.
I am not aware if this magazine will fit the M & P C. Can anyone verify that this fits?

Beretta PX Storm Type F, sub-compact, 9MM/13 + 1; .40/10 +1, DA/SA, $499.99.

Feel free to comment on the pros and cons of any of the above handguns, and supply
better pricing info if you are so inclined.

If anyone sees a handgun on this thread, which prompts purchase, please post on
this thread.

Happy shopping shootists.

TIA / SIA

I have a Sig P320, which is a striker-fired cousin to the hammer-fired P250. (I've never fired a P250, dry or live.)

The cool thing about those guns is the legal "gun" is a little fire control group. For $300 (retail) you can get a conversion kit to make a P250 or P320 a different physical size or caliber.

Of the two on the shelf at the gun store, the full size P320 I dry-fired had a slightly better trigger than the "carry" size they had. So, I got the full-size - but now I've learned its going to be another couple of months before the subcompact kit I've ordered will be available.

Dang.

But when it gets here, I think it will be cool. Full size for plinking, something about the size of a Kimber Ultra Carry for social occasions, for about 1.5x the cost of the P320 itself.

The 17 round Magazine listed will function in the Compact (C) model, but it will stick out some from the bottom of the grip. There are sleeves available for the M&P full size magazines that will act as a spacer and provide a good fit when used in the compact pistol.

surprise_i'm_armed, I saw the ad's pop up window with the "17 round, 9MM Smith and Wesson magazine is $39.99" you asked about.
That is the one sold for the fullsize M&P. However it does work in the compact and you can get one of the x-grips that fills the gap so you have a full size grip. I have two and they work great. http://x-grips.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know that Taurus doesn't get a lot of love on the forum, and I've had a TPC that I wasn't a big fan of myself. Having said that, I bought a PT111 Millennium G2 at the local gun show this past weekend for $239 that came with 2 mags. I figured for that price I'd give it a "shot". I ran a box through it this evening and I have to say that I'm impressed. Very accurate, good trigger, and it ran flawlessly. I want to run a couple more boxes through it before making it a ccw but so far so good.

i have a pt145 pro and have never had an issue with it, only thing i dont like with it is the initial long trigger pull
