The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants hotels to monitor how much time its guests spend in the shower.

The agency is spending $15,000 to create a wireless system that will track how much water a hotel guest uses to get them to “modify their behavior.
More evidence that there is absolutely no part of other people's lives that liberals don't hunger to monitor, order, and control.
The website, which is a project of the Alliance for Water Efficiency, also suggests watering plants with discarded cold water from showers that take a long time to heat up, and taking “navy showers.”

“The method requires three steps: 1) turn on water to rinse body and hair; 2) turn off water while shampooing hair and washing body with soap and washcloth; 3) resume water flow and rinse off all shampoo and soap,” the group said. “Using this technique, the total duration of water flow can easily be reduced to 5 minutes or less.”

I wish I could say I am shocked, but nothing proposed these days seems to surprise me....

I'm not sure how monitoring the shower behavior of guests will cause a modification of behavior, unless they start to tie water consumption to your room bill if it is over a certain amount. Then, how would they deal with additional guests?? Some extra water allowed for more guests in a given room? What about electricity?? Only a certain amount of that to be used as well??

This is getting too crazy. And to think, these people are getting paid with tax dollars to come up with these schemes. :banghead: :mad5

Good luck with all that. I've been trying to restrict the amount of hot water my daughter uses when she showers for years. Sometimes I think she falls asleep in there. :grumble

My house has a handy hub where I can shut off hot and/or cold water to any individual faucet in the house. The screams never get old, especially when guests arrive.

Anyone who thinks this EPA initiative will be restricted to just hotels is crazy. If they're able to get it into one hotel, then soon, it'll be required of all of them. Once they do it for all hotels, it's just a small leap to get it mandatory in our homes, as well.

The next thing you know they will be monitoring how much water it takes to flush your toilet!
