Open carry passed?

My wife watches news as she puts her face on for work and said they announced that open carry had passed???

I have been lax in keeping up with the legislation the last few weeks but I figured it wouldn't be hard to spot whether it passed or not here, on TexasCHLforum.com...lol. I'm not seeing anywhere that it has.

She says, "so you can carry one out in the open now?"
I said, "last I heard, it wouldn't take effect until January IF it passes."

So I came here looking to see what was going on with it and not finding much?? I am at work so I can't read through threads to catch up. Usually, when something like this passes, SOMEONE posts a new thread about it...lol.

Thanks,
Lee

It's up for a second reading in the House today. Would be January 1 if it gets through.

Not passed. Senate passed one bill, house is scheduled to debate and engross another (identical) today. HB will most likely go to senate and be voted on without too much problem.

No. SB 17 for licensed open carry has passed in the Senate, and been sent on to the House for their vote. Their companion bill, HB910 is still in review. So, open carry is not passed totally yet. And, unless something changes, if the House passes the Senate bill as currently worded and it is signed by the Governor, open carry will not be allowed until Jan 1, 2016.

I got a little confused myself. It went from a ton of talk about oc to almost silence. I just google search oc Texas once every few days to see if any new articles popped up.

Still has to go Senate then, the Governor for signature and then we would OC after Jan 1 2016.

Me too! So many great Duke movies. I haven't been able to find El Dorado yet, but do have many others. Every now and then, when the weather gets nasty and any plans get cancelled, I'll call an audible and do a John Wayne marathon.

Help me out here if I'm wrong. I read that if both houses pass a bill, it automatically becomes law Aug 31 unless the governor vetoes it or the wording of the bill specifies a different date.

If they pass the same bill, Each house has passed their own Open Carry bill, and there are differences between them. As soon as one bill gets passed by the other house w/o changes then we are off to the governor's desk.
