I took the title from a clever comment to one of the stories.
In short: Some burglars entered a building which contained a bank vault in the basement. They hid out until after hours, then disabled an elevator (or lift as our cousins call it) and entered the shaft on the third floor (second floor in UK-speak). The lowered themselves and their equipment to the basement, disabled some alarms, broke through a door or two, then used a big honkin' drill to make several connected holes through 50 cm of reinforced concrete into the vault. This made an opening big enough for a man to get through. They entered the vault, opened an interior door or two, and ransacked a bunch of safe deposit boxes for gems and whatever else looked good. The hit a total of 72 out of 999 safety deposit boxes.
One of the interesting things is...they took TWO nights to do all this, and they weren't even consecutive nights. The went in on Thursday night, left on Good Friday morning, then came back Saturday night and left for good on Sunday. No one discovered this until Tuesday morning, because the bank was closed for Easter Weekend.
Second interesting fact: About three hours in on the first night, they triggered an alarm...but the police assigned it so low a priority that no one was sent to investigate.

Third interesting fact: A similar burglary occurred in Berlin in 2013.βA grade was applied to the call that meant that no police response was deemed to be required,β the statement said. βAn internal investigation is ongoing to identify why this grade was applied to the call in conjunction with the alarm company.β
