Battle of Mosquito Hill

I hate Mosquitos. I understand the good Lord needed to make food for bats and such, but mosquitos???

I have one of those dog watering systems that has a tray she can drink from and a gallon jug, placed upside down, on the back of the drinking tray inside the house. I went to clean and refill the thing and noticed to my horror that the jug (which has a little feed valve on the lid) was empty of water but had maybe 50 mosquitoes in it.

Aaaackkkk....a reinforced platoon of insurgents!

Not wanting to use insect spray, I took the jug outside to drown the varmints with a high power water spray. Turned the water on to pre-charge the hose and slowly unscrewed the lid. It was like kicking a hornet's nest! The few that escaped with their lives attacked me with a vengeance for murdering their brethren like they'd been taking lessons from the Taliban.

I emptied the jug of the drowned carcasses of the miscreants while swatting at the attackers and dashed into the house. A couple of the kamikazes tried to follow and I considered administering a little 10mm medicine from my sidearm, but settled for bloody swats.

I hate mosquitoes!! :mad5

Now I'm wondering how they got in there. My first thought is a wandering invader put the larvae in the tray and they floated into the jug. Then I thought, what if they are in the Houston city water supply? :eek6

Did I say it already? I HATE MOSQUITOS!

Actually I had some bats living in my big palm tree before I had it removed.

I think I had more mosquitoes then than I do now.

Maybe they were fruit bats or worse vampire bats! :biggrinjester: I don't have any bat houses but the bats are around. They dive bomb my backyard pool in the evening, I assume after mosquitoes.

Now whenever I need one, I use my Surefire Bat Signal!

There is a green belt on two sides of the backyard. Maybe a Bat-Mo-Tel?

It is very possible. They seem to like wet grass and vegetation. Too bad they're not vegetarian!

Just to make sure everyone knows - the mosquitoes that bite you are all female.

I'm sure there's a connection there... somewhere...

I'm Uber sure I don't want to know!!!

After reading the stuff on the American Mosquito Control Association website, (https://amca.memberclicks.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), I feel even more helpless in combatting these enemies of peace and prosperity. I didn't find anything about the effect of flash bangs or antiaircraft gunfire though...there might still be hope.

I think your best results will be with a fuel/air bomb...... something like one of these:

Something I hate more than mosquito are chiggers. The itching from the bite is much worse and the amount of time it takes for the bump to go down can be a few days. People claim there are many ways to get them out but there all myths. Once you feel the itch, the chigger is gone. The itch is caused by enzymes they use to dissolve and eat your skin. Those chiggers like to bite around ankles, inner thighs, waistlines and any soft skin. I have a few chigger bites now. Ill take blood sucking mosquitos over flesh eating chiggers anyday. I HATE CHIGGERS!

There is not a word strong enough to describe what I think of chiggers.

When I lived in League City we could not use our pool at night. There was a utility easement in back and the skeeters were horrible.

I bought one of these:

http://www.mosquitomagnet.com

They work. Best thing I ever bought. After a few weeks the life cycle of the bugs is broken and you are then trouble free.
