Gun safe lock
Can a electronic lock on a gun safe be changed to a dial lock?
Re: Gun safe lock
Contact the company that makes your safe. Also someone on this forum may have that information if you would tell what safe you have. I know when I purchased my safe I had the option of which lock I wanted.

IIRC believe they have to make some modification to go electronic to manual but manual to electronic they don't.

Don't know about yours but mine required no retrofit. My Champion safe was changed over to an electronic keypad lock in a few minutes- it looked like they just replaced the dial with a round keypad... the manual lock is S&G. I'm sure not all safes and locks are the same but some obviously can be converted easily. I'd guess you'll have to ask your safe guy about your specific model.

I was told by a Winchester rep that changing from dial to electronic was simple and could be done by the customer. Going from electronic to dial was not nearly as easy. I was quoted $225 to change mine from electronic to dial which included parts and the house call.
Wasn't worth it to me. Eventually I'll either sell or trade mine for one with a dial.

It probably depends on the manufacturer of the safe and the lock; I think my locksmith customer said $400 to go from dial to electronic (Liberty with an S&G lock). Of course, if I ever do it, I'll have a dial lock leftover...
