I'm planning on attending tomorrow. I called to find out if it was CHL friendly------NO!!!
CHL holders have to unload, tie actions because if not, "someone will get shot".
bull (my opinion)

This is pretty standard at most gun shows.

I've never been to a gun show that you can carry at.

I went to a gun show in Sweetwater, Texas one year and it was not posted at the time. Yes I carried just like any other place that isn't posted.

Last time I was there it wasn't posted therefor you can carry. Also it's held in a city owned building so 30.06 wouldn't be enforceable.

I no longer go to gun shows.
Why?
Prices are no better than your LGS and the show quickly becomes so crowded after opening their doors, that it's simply like one big human traffic jam.
Not for me...

The last Gun show I attended was at the Travis county expo center a couple of years ago. While packing my Bersa 9 in a Kholster full moon holster, a LE asked if I had any loaded weapons to declare. I answered honestly, "No." I had no intention of declaring my weapon to a peace officer in a building with an uninforcable 30.06.

Under the new legislation, they are not going to be allowed to post 30.06 (enforceable or not) anymore if these are in city/county govt buildings...right?

I'm not so sure about that. IIRC the bill prevents a state agency or a political division of a state agency from posting a 30.06 on gov owned property. In the cases of gun shows its not a state agency posting the 30.06, it's the gun show promoters. Still not enforceable but would not be prohibited under the bill.

I don't go to every show but when I do go I don't have a problem leaving my carry piece in the vehicle.

I stopped going to gun shows because of the non-CHL Policy. If a local gun store did not allow CHL would you do business with them? That is just my opinion.

Another issue is gun shows are only there for 2-3 days. I guess you could go after the promoter and prevent them from posting future shows.

We will talk about Whataburger, Costco, and others and "take our business" elsewhere. But a gunshow, of all places! If we all stopped going to gunshows to protest would that help change their mind? I doubt we will ever know.

In the past, I've said the same thing, but my recent experience indicates that it's not longer true. Some shows that used to post 30.06 no longer do.
See my post here to see that the big recurring gun show in downtown Houston is no longer posted:
